Every iPhone XR / XS / 11 / 12 / 13 / 14 / 15 / 16 supports eSIM. iPhone 14 and later sold in the US are eSIM-only. The flow below works on all of them, on the latest iOS.
Before you start
- Be on wifi. Don't try this in the airport with bad signal.
- Update to the latest iOS via Settings → General → Software Update.
- Make sure the iPhone isn't carrier-locked (most newer iPhones aren't).
Install the QR
- Open the Simline app and tap your purchased plan. Tap Install eSIM.
- iOS opens the eSIM screen. Tap Continue. The profile downloads automatically.
- Choose Simline as the secondary line and label it (e.g. "Travel").
- Pick which line handles calls (your home SIM) and which handles data (Simline).
If iOS asks to keep iMessage on your home number, say yes. Simline carries data only — messages stay where you want them.
When you land
Open Settings → Cellular and verify Simline shows a signal. Toggle Data Roaming ON for the Simline line — the plan won't connect without it. Your home SIM stays in domestic mode.
